SIRNEX | 30 – 12 – 2011 | Following the MGK (National Security Council) meeting on 28 December, the Turkish army has made a slaughter with warplanes. At least 35 burnt bodies have been reached so far. The number of casualties is feared to increase.

TURKEY | 16 – 10 – 2011 | As a result of a conspiracy filed against the journalist Suzan Zengin she was imprisoned in 2009 and send to the Bakirkoy woman Prison in Istanbul. She was working for the progressive-revolutionary paper Ozgur Gelecek (Free Future) after… she was released from prison she had to undergo a heart surgery but she did not recover and died on October 12th 2011. On October 14th 2011 Suzan Zengin was bid fare walled by her comrades, friends and her family..

TURKEY | 20 – 07 – 2011 | Last night a broad operation in the region Dersim in the province Pulumur and the Dersim-Bingol borders were launched by the Turkish armed forces. Also this morning hundreds of new military units were sent to Dersim.

TURKEY | 24 – 04 – 2011 | The Press statement of the TKP/ML-TIKKO Dersim Region Comittee from April 20th 2011 states that on 2nd February 2011, 5 guerillas of TKP/ML- TIKKO have lost their lives as a result of an avalanche. According to the statement of the Dersim Region; on February 2nd 2011 at 5am a avalanche destroyed the Winter-Camp and killed five female TIKKO guerillas.
BDP Candidates Banned From Elections

TURKEY | 19 – 04 – 2011 | Yüksek Seçim Kurulu (the Elections Body) has ruled that BDP (Peace and Democracy Party) candidates Sebahat Tuncel (İstanbul), Gültan Kışanak (Siirt), Hatip Dicle and Leyla Zana (Diyarbakır), and “Labor, Democracy and Freedom” blocks candidates Ertugrul Kurkcu (Mersin), Isa Gurbuz (Elazig) and Salih Yildiz can not contest the elections. It is a hard blow to BDP, a clear political decision, and it shows once again how difficult it is for Kurds to make politics in Turkey.

Release Journalist Zengin!

TURKEY | 09 – 02 – 2011 | The Publishers Association demands the release of journalist Zengin from the Işçi-Köylü newspaper after one year in detention. Suzan Zengin is also a human rights activaist and translator of minority and genocide issues. Her first hearing was on 26 August. Next trial will be in 15 February. Spokesperson Zarakolu criticized, “As long as the Anti-Terror Law is in force, journalists will be treated arbitrarily”.

TURKEY | 06 – 02 – 2011 | – In DESA Sefakoy factory, one of our members , Nevzat Ulku, who was dismissed because of being member of the Union, was offered money by the administration to withdraw the court case. DESA is forcing our member because they are well aware of being found guilty as an anti-union company and try to stop the court process. Our member refused this offer.Enough is enough!

The latest developments in DESA are the concrete evidences of the anti-union attitude of the DESA employer. For a long time, our Union was criticizing the employer for not obeying to the rules of the Protocol, which was signed on 24.07.2009 as a consequence of the international campaign and that was the acceptance of the Union as a a social partner and declaration of being kind to the freedom of organization of the Union members.
